Currently, there are 13 disciplines you can show your horse in in Legacy. You can show you horse in one or more!
Not every horse is suited to every discipline, and what they are best at will be determined by their performance abilities, talents, and personalities. This guide will tell you which traits matter for each discipline. To help you out a bit, we will list the traits in categories of importance, with ‘key' traits being the absolute most important thing you should breed for, ‘major’ traits being highly important, and ‘minor’ traits having smaller impacts. If a trait is not listed, then it does not affect their show score for that discipline.
Gaited Pleasure is essentially Saddleseat but for Gaited horses, though they are scored slightly different. Note though that 3-gaited horses can enter in Gaited classes, but they will receive a bad score. Similarly, a 4-gaited horse won't do as well in Gaited pleasure as a 5-gaited horse, since they cannot do the 5th gait.
Both of these disciplines use the same formulas, Pace Racing is just for 4- or 5-gaited horses. In Pace Racing, having 5-gaits has no benefit over 4 gaits.
Still aren't sure what you want to train and show your horse in? No worries, we know this game can be overwhelming. If you'd like some suggestions, we have made a Google sheet that you can use. Don't worry, you only need to enter a littler information about your horse into it, then it will rate how suited they are for each discipline.
Before we give you the link though, there are a couple things to note:
1. Be aware that this helper sheet is only intended to be used for suggestions. It does not take that much detail about your horse into account, so it does not guarantee your horse will do well in these disciplines. But, it can give you some idea of what they might do well in.
2. Unfortunately, this won't work well on minis. Minis can only show in Pulling, Inhand Jumping, and Trot or Pace Racing. They receive special score adjustments in these shows so that they are able to compete with full-size horses, but this sheet cannot take that into account. For these reasons, we do not recommend it be used for minis.
Okay, keeping those things in mind, here is a link to the sheet: Discipline Helper
