¶ Legacy's Store
While Legacy is completely free to play, there are a few things you can purchase with real money. This page will detail what you can purchase, and how to do so.
Before we tell you all that though, we want to highlight one thing. We tried hard to make it so that nothing you can purchase in the store gives you a significant advantage over other players. In other words, we do not want the game to become ‘pay-to-win’. There is also just one game currency, and you cannot purchase more with real money.
One more thing, when making any purchases, you will be directed to Stripe to finish the purchase, and it will say the money is being sent to Pedigree Games, our LLC. You can pay with a credit card, Google pay, Apple pay, or Cash App. All prices listed in the store are in USD, and Stripe will automatically convert any other currencies to USD using the current exchange rate.
*Note to alpha testers: Since the game is in alpha testing right now, be aware there are some risks for some purchases. Any purchase you make supports the development of the game, but please pay attention to all warnings!
¶ Where is the Store located?
You will find the store at the bottom of your Account page. You can get there by clicking the ‘Settings’ icon in the upper right corner of the game, then selecting ‘Account’ from the drop down.
If you scroll down on your Account page, you will see something like this:
¶ What can you purchase in the Store?
Right now, you can purchase:
- Additional Ranches (Ranch Subscriptions)
- Import Credits (Regular)
- Custom Import Credits
- Custom Background Credits
Eventually, there will be more, such as custom manes and tails and tack, which you will be able to add to your horses' images.
¶ Ranch Subscriptions
¶ Adding new Ranches to your Legacy
Everyone will get one free Ranch when they start the game, but you can use Ranch Subscriptions to purchase additional Ranches. Each Ranch you purchase will start off exactly how your original Ranch did: You will start with 1 empty Barn, 1 empty Pasture, 5 Regular Import Credits, and 0.5 million game currency. Each additional Ranch costs approximately 9.99 USD/month.
To purchase a new additional Ranch, you can purchase either a 1, 6 or 12 month subscription. Purchasing more months at once will give you a discount in price. Select which option you want in the first drop down, and then in the second drop down, select ‘New Ranch’ . A new text field will become available for you to enter the name of your new Ranch. After you have named your Ranch, click SUBSCRIBE to be directed to Stripe to pay.
Once you have finished your purchase, your new Ranch will be added to your Ranch List on your ‘Home’ page. To switch which Ranch you are working on, click the ‘Home’ tab in the top menu, and then scroll down and select which Ranch you want to work in. You will need to return to your Home page to switch between Ranches.
¶ Adding more time to your Subscription Ranches
You will only be able to use your additional Ranches for as long as you pay for a subscription.
To add more time to your subscription, select the number of months you want to add in the first drop down, and then in the second drop down, select the name of the Ranch that you want to add time to. After you have done that, click SUBSCRIBE to be directed to Stripe to pay.
¶ What happens when my Subscription Ranch runs out of time?
The Ranch will simply become unplayable. All your horses will still be there, you just will not be able to access them. They will continue to age, and your ranch will be charged feed, vet, and any other expenses even while you cannot play.
You do not have to renew your subscription, but if you want to renew an account that has been ‘frozen’, simply add more time to that Ranch, as detailed above.
¶ If I have multiple Ranches, am I allowed to sell horses between them?
Yes. However,
This can be abused in a way that could get you banned from the game.
Because we allow players to sell horses between Ranches, this can be used to move game money from one Ranch to the other. Within reason this is fine, but it can be taken too far, and become unfair to other players. Therefore, it is against our Terms of Service to use additional Ranches to solely funnel game money from the subscription Ranch to another Ranch. More specifically, it is considered cheating to purchase a 1-month new Ranch Subscription, just to move the game money to any other Ranch account. Players caught doing this will be reprimanded as follows:
- First offense: A warning and reminder of our Terms of Service, and the game money will be moved back to the subscription account.
- Second offense: You will be banned from the game. There is no excuse once we have already directly warned you. It is our responsibility to keep the game fair to all players.
Please don't try to cheat. Pay-to-win games are no fun for anyone.
¶ (Regular) Import Credits
Each Ranch starts off with 5 Regular Import Credits. In addition to that, each Ranch will also receive 3 extra Regular Import Credits, for free, every 120 days (10-20 game years). That being said, if you want more Regular Import Credits, you can purchase them in the store for 2.99 a piece.
To purchase them, select whether you want 1, 5 or 10 from the dropdown (purchasing more at once does give you a discount), and click ADD TO CART. They will appear in your Cart at the bottom of the page. Once you have added everything you want to purchase to your Cart, click CHECKOUT to be directed to Stripe to pay.
Purchased Import Credits will appear as available on all of your Ranches if you have more than one Ranch. But, once you use 1 credit on a Ranch, it will be gone from the other Ranches.
Please note that these are just regular Import Credits though! They are the exact same as what you got when you started the game. You can only select the breed, and then will receive a completely random horse. If you want to pick the gender and color, you need a Custom Import Credit.
Horses are not immortal warning: Please keep in mind that horses in the game are not immortal. They will die of old age eventually, or can die of emaciation or metabolic syndrome if you do not properly care for them. Once a credit is used, the horse is your responsibility, and you will not be given a replacement credit if/when the horse dies. Concerning old age, horses can pass away between 24 to 40 game years of age. Import horses come as 5 YOs, so this means they will live for 19-35 game years after you use the credit, so long as you care for them. This corresponds to 228 to 420 real days of use for one import credit.
Alpha tester warning: After alpha testing has finished, it is likely that the game's database will be wiped before the full game is released. Any credits you have purchased and used will not re-appear. The alpha isn't expected to end until sometime in August to November 2024 at the earliest (likely later, please keep an eye on the announcements), so if you use purchased credits, you must keep this in mind. Unused credits and existing ranch subscriptions will still remain on accounts.
¶ Custom Import Credits
Custom Import Credits work similarly to Regular Import Credits, except you can also select the horse's gender, base color, up to 2 dilutions, 1 modifier, and 1 white pattern. Everything else about the horse will still be random, so these credits are primarily just so players can get specific colors into their herds. Custom Import Credits are 6.99 a piece.* (Prices may change during or after the Alpha testing period)

¶ Custom Background Credits
Custom Background Credits allow you to select a different image for one horse's background. 1 credit will unlock all backgrounds for 1 horse, and you can change that background for that horse whenever and as often as you like. When purchasing the Custom Background Credit, you do not need to select which background you want yet, you will just be purchasing the credits to later select the image. A pack of 10 Custom Background Credits is 2.49 USD, but you get a discount if you purchase more at once.
To purchase them, select whether you want 10, 50 or 100 from the dropdown (purchasing more at once does give you a discount), and click ADD TO CART. They will appear in your Cart at the bottom of the page. Once you have added everything you want to purchase to your Cart, click CHECKOUT to be directed to Stripe to pay.
Once you have purchased Background Credits, they will appear available on your Account page, just above the Store, in the CUSTOMIZE HORSES section. To use a credit, select the background you want (the preview will show you what you have selected), then select the horse you want to give that background to. Once you have done this, the background will not automatically appear on your horse. To use it, go to your horse, and scroll down to their Management section. You will see an option to Choose background, and the image you selected will be there now. Select it, and click CHANGE. Refresh the page, and your horse will have a new background! Any other backgrounds you had for that horse will still be there though, so you can change them anytime.
Please note that, yes, our background images right now are made from stock photos. We assure you we purchased rights to these images so that we could use them in the game. Eventually we hope to add more that aren't made from stock photos.
