If you want to get rid of some or all of your horses in Legacy, there are multiple ways to sell them. This guide explains the five different options.
To put your horse up for sale to any buyer for a set price, you will want to use the public sales. To add your horse to the public sales, go to their Management tab, and scroll down until you see ‘Sell & Lease’. Putting them in the public sales is as simple as entering your price, and clicking ‘Confirm'. They will then be listed in the ‘CLASSIFIEDS’ on the Sales page.
To put your horse up for public sale but only to approve buyers, you will want to do an ‘Approval’ type sale. To do this, go to their Management tab, and scroll down until you see ‘Sell & Lease’. Put in their price, then check the ‘Approval’ box before clicking ‘Confirm’. They will then be listed in the ‘CLASSIFIEDS’ on the Sales page, but any sales requests will have to be approved by you before the horse is sold.
You can chose to approve or deny the sale by going to your ‘Sales & Leases’ tab on your Ranch page, or on the horse's page. On either, simple click ‘Approve’ to finalize the sale to that buyer, or ‘Deny’ to send the horse back to the Classifieds without selling to that player.
You can put a horse up for public auction in the same way you put them up for public sale, except the price you enter will be the minimum bid, and you need to click ‘AUCTION’. They will then be listed on the ‘AUCTIONS' of the Sales page. Each auction will last 7 real days.
If you want to sell a horse to a specific Ranch, then you would use the private sales. To do this, go to their Management tab, and scroll down until you see ‘Sell & Lease’. Put in their price, then check the ‘Private’ box. Another box will then pop up for the name of the recipient's Ranch, not user name. Once you have entered this information, click ‘Confirm’.
If you are the buyer of a private sale, you will need to go to your Ranch page, and select the ‘Sales & Leases’ tab. There you should see the horse listed and you can accept the sale.
And yes, it is acceptable to sell horses to your other Ranches, within reason. Please note that it is against our Terms of Service to use additional Ranches to solely funnel game money from the subscription Ranch to another Ranch. More specifically, it is considered cheating to purchase a 1-month new Ranch Subscription, just to move the game money to any other Ranch account by selling horses. Players caught doing this will be reprimanded as follows:
Please don't try to cheat. Pay-to-win games are no fun for anyone.
Rehoming sells your horse to an NPC, ‘The Collector’, who takes unwanted horses and gives them various jobs. They don't pay you very much, but they will buy any horse instantly. You should note though that selling to them removes the horse from the playing pool. You will still be able to see their page, they will still be visible in pedigrees if they had any offspring, but neither you nor any other player will be able to use them for anything ever again. Be absolutely sure you want this to happen before rehoming a horse.
To rehome them, there is an orange button labeled ‘REHOME’ in their Management tab. Click it, and then confirm that you understand it is permanent and they will be sold to The Collector.
How much money will you get for them? It depends on two things: Their personality and training.
Like the non-showing jobs you can give your horses, The Collector prefers horses with the right personality for their jobs. So, they will pay more for certain personalities, and they will also be happy if they don't have to do any extra training to get the horse ready to work. With the exception of minis, they only look for a horse to be trained up to Turn Left in the Undersaddle training section. For minis, they only want Groundwork to be completed.
Here is a breakdown of how much they will pay:
The listed prices are Trained/Not-trained, and then are followed by the personality requirements.
One last thing you should know about selling mares with foals. If a mare has a foal ‘at her side’ (<6 months old), then the foal will be sold with the mare. Be sure you want this to happen before listing a mare with a foal for sale.
